akame's corner of the internet

why i'm going to digitalize my memories.

growing up i never gave thought to journals, pictures, videos, any sort of memory-reinforcement. i don't necessarily regret that, but i do know i have bad memory.

as i've been entering a new stage in my life, one that was completely different than the previous one, i find myself reminiscing on my past. some of these memories are core, meaning i'll never forget them, but i've started having random memories pop up that i haven't thought about in years that i'd like to remember.

so, starting today, i'm starting a tag called #memories on my blog. here i will write down both good and bad memories (that aren't too personal- that will be for my journal) for my own sake, to remember.

my first concern was that if bear was the best platform for this. after reading more about it from Herman, i think so. it's built to last, not dependant on anyone, no ulterior motives (that we know about), and run by a seemingly trustworthy person. the only concern i would have is possibly exporting my blog into like .txt. whether this is possible or not, i'm unsure, but this would change my 95% trust to 100%. i also pay $5 a month to Herman, so i do believe in what he's building here.

second was privacy, but rather than seeing it all negative and pessimistic, i want to be optimistic and share memories with people. who knows, maybe somebody will email me (using my guestbook) saying how they too have a similar memory, or appreciated my own.

regardless, i'm excited to start this. i'll do my best to include images / videos of said memory, but that all depends if 1. my parents have that media and 2. i'm willing to put the time to find it.

i encourage anyone who reads this to do this as well. realistically a picture can get your memory running on a particular memory, but i also want to have a journal entry of my interpretation of these memories.
